Beirut, October 23rd, 2026 – Securing Lebanon’s Routing Infrastructure: ISOC Lebanon and LEB-IX Successfully Host Technical Workshop on Routing Security

On Thursday, October 22, 2026, the Lebanon Internet Exchange Point (LEB-IX), in strategic partnership with the Internet Society Lebanon Chapter (ISOC-LB), successfully hosted an intensive technical workshop at The SmallVille Hotel in Badaro, focusing on advancing routing security and resilience across Lebanon’s digital ecosystem.

Led by industry experts Massimiliano Stucchi and Jad El Cham, the interactive session brought together technical leaders, network operators, systems administrators, and cybersecurity professionals from across the country’s Internet Service Providers (ISPs), banking and financial institutions, academic networks, and enterprise autonomous systems.

Key Technical Takeaways

The session delivered practical, operational insights into securing IP routing architectures against evolving global network threats. Key areas of focus included:
  • BGP Route Protection: Practical strategies for identifying and mitigating BGP route hijacking and unintended route leaks.
  • RPKI & ROA Deployment: Step-by-step implementation of Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI) and Route Origin Authorizations (ROAs) to ensure verifiable origin validation.
  • Route Filtering & Hygiene: Best practices in prefix filtering, bogon mitigation, and effective Internet Routing Registry (IRR) management.
  • Global Security Frameworks: Actionable alignment with the Mutually Agreed Norms for Routing Security (MANRS) initiative.
The high level of engagement and practical exchange during the session underscored the community’s commitment to reinforcing Lebanon’s internet resilience. Following the technical discussions, attendees gathered for an evening networking reception to connect, exchange operational experiences, and discuss future collaborative initiatives.

Sincere thanks go to our speakers, partners, and attendees for making this session a resounding success. ISOC-LB and LEB-IX look forward to continuing their joint efforts to support network operators and safeguard Lebanon’s internet connectivity.
